Adei Radio — The Economic Deputy Office says 36 standards and 30 testing methods proposed by the Afghanistan National Standards Authority have been approved at a regular meeting of the Economic Commission’s technical committee.
According to a statement from the Economic Deputy Office,
the approved standards cover food products, medicines, construction materials,
agricultural products, petroleum products, environmental protection, mining,
telecommunications and electricity.
The office said the meeting also discussed ways to address
electricity problems facing several factories in industrial parks in Kabul,
Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces.
The development comes as the activities of the Afghanistan
National Standards Authority have increased since the Islamic Emirate returned
to power. The authority has periodically prevented the import of substandard
goods through various border crossings.
The authority has also repeatedly urged traders to refrain
from importing low-quality products into the country.
